This is a disturbing but powerful Norwegian Motorcycle safety commercial. Comparing humans to animals in a commerical is not the most original idea but I think this takes it to a new level. The ad will definitely make audiences stop and pay attention, and hopefully impact them in a way that will change their driving habits. Its also interesting to see how different countries tackle the same problem. After you watch the one below check this New Zealand Motorcycle Safety commercial that uses humour and naked bodies to raise awareness for motorcyclists. Lets hope they both work their tits off (pun intended). [Via Adfreak]
Originally found this Yamaha XV250 on the marvelous Mulligans Machine. Of course it's from Gravel Crew in Japan who have such a distinctive style. I still can't believe it's a Virago. I see so many of these bikes around the streets but I have never seen one customized (unless you think adding saddle bags and tassels counts). The xv250 is actually a really cheap alternative to the more popular project bikes like the SR400's. Although I'm not sure they have the same range of custom parts readily available.
Kott Motorcycles is a small custom shop near Los Angeles California, specializing in the restoration and customization of 1970’s era Honda 750’s, 550’s, and 350’s. Like us, the owner Dustin Kott has a passion for cafe racers. We love the raw look of his bikes especially this 750 named 'Distressed'. With clubman bars, hand formed racer seat and no fenders, this bike has been done in true cafe style. Check out more bikes from Kott and this nicely shot video of Kott in action.
Discovered the Motorcycle Factory Ajito (their website needs some work) on a Spanish blog called Retro Custom Racer. Ajito is a custom shop in Japan that have made loads of cool sr400's bobbers but it was this BSA C-11 named Racy King that really stood out. Everything on this bike looks hand made. The seat, brake light and Japanese dragon tank won't be to everyone's taste but you have to give credit where credit is due. Ajito has created something truly unique and we look forward to seeing more bikes from these guys in the future.
This is a rare photo of Steve McQueen in Taiwan (even though some say Japan) on the set of 'The Sand Pebbles'. This was the only movie he received an Academy Award nomination (but didn't win). Apparently he had this Suzuki T20 (not a tr500 as first thought) with racing fairing shipped in so he could travel around Taiwan when not filming. I have also read lots of stories that McQueen raced Army officers from bar to bar with the loser having to buy the next round of drinks. Needless to say that McQueen didn't have to buy many rounds. Check out more pics of 'The king of cool' on this beautiful bike.
We love receiving the Deus Oily Rag in our inbox and discovering what the guys at Deus have been creating. The first thing that stopped us in our tracks is this SR400 Drovers Dog. Done in true Deus style, with a SR skinny tank and those beautiful vintage Firestones. The only thing that bugs me is the Deus graphics on the tank, l have to be honest I much prefer the original logo (but hey, a bit of paint stripper would fix that). Hit the jump for the full Drovers Dog gallery.
The Wrenchmonkees have done it again. Creating a truly unique HD XLCH Hardtail. We love the combination of the old Husqvarna CR tank, Pirelli trials knobby tires on a HD sportster with a Monkee hardtail rear frame. Add the WM megatron pipes and custom fender and you have one friggin cool looking bike. Their motorcycles are almost worth moving to Copenhagen for (also Carlsberg beer and lego). For all the specs and more pics visit the WM site.
Marvel-Us Customs are a small custom shop from Phoenix, Arizona. They specialize in building cutting edge vintage and pre 80’s bikes to show stopping quality. They also have a love for British bikes. Like this beautifully restored Triton. Here's a list of specs (deep breath)... The bike is a 1956 Triumph T110 pre unit motor with a 750cc morgo kit and dual 930 amal carbs. The frame is the classic 1964 Norton featherbed slimline. The rims are Akront high shoulder rims, it has 19" dunlop front and back. Haward belt drive and the swing arm was streched 2 1/2" for a longer base and to fit the 19 x4.0 in the narrow norton swing arm. Got all that? In simple terms it's one stunning ride that has us rabid like Cujo.
