This beauty was found on Radical Ducati, an Italian Spanish site that has a great sense of humour and a great site that shows some detailed pics of the restoration. Judging by the pics it looks like a family affair. They describe this bike as a 1960 Ducati 49cc Sportivo. Can't find much information about this model but it looks very similar to the Ducati 98cc Gran Sport.
We all like it a bit rough and ready now and then. Sometimes I hate posting bikes that are too perfect. The soul of a cafe racer sometimes lives in the imperfections. Like a few scratches on the tank or a handmade seat that has a few random bolts. Like this awesome 1978 Suzuki GS750 I found on an old cafe racer thread (if you own it please let me know). There's a great article on McNews about how the GS750 back in it's day was the first Japanese superbike to get it right. The CB750 and Kawasaki Z900 both didn't handle as well as the GS750 (I'm sure some of you will disagree). Anyway, as you can see it's a great platform for a cafe racer. Having recently received my SR400 from Japan I can't stop searching for pics of them for inspiration. So when it comes to SR400 and SR500's one of the best places to go is Bratstyle. They are a Japanese custom shop that have a very distinctive and rideable style. They especially love their Sr400's, XS650's and W650's. Check out their gallery for more eye candy. One of the first purchases will be a set of old-school Firestones like the ones on this SR500 aptly named Godspeed.
You don't find many Japanese custom shops creating HD cafe racers. But Hidemo (stands for Hide Motorcycles) are doing it in exceptional style. We friggin love this Harley. The bike is named the Mod Cafe 3 which is obviously a tribute to the cafe racer and Mod scene in Britian. It even has a Quadrophenia logo. For those that weren't mods in the 60's, Quadrophenia is the name of British rock band The Who sixth studio album. Overall it's a beautiful cafe racer and a great tribute to one of the greatest rock bands the world will ever see.
Last September Gateway BMW bought a sorry looking 1988 R100RT and Ryan Manley (pictured) was given the job to transform the R100 into a beautiful cafe racer. The silver tank and seat with black frame, wheels and final drive is a great look. We also dig the new exhaust pipes on it. They are EMGO universal Shorty pipes, which apparently can be heard over a Harley. The seat is not finished in this pic but you can see it on the Gateway BMW site, plus all the details on the build. The bike has been sold to some lucky bastard and I'm sure he hasn't stopped grinning.
The much anticipated Chop Cult has launched. The site has a fresh feel and some even fresher bikes. We found this immaculate purple 1979 Erwin SR500. Built by the talented Kim Boyle, we are having trouble taking our eyes off it. We thought the beautiful Blue Moon Kustom tank looked familiar having seen it on their blog recently. When i saw this Egli Vincent i fell to my knees and asked for forgiveness. Unfortunately only 100 Egli-Vincents were made between 1967 and 1972. Fritz Egli was a specialist frame manufacturer based in Switzerland. Egli-Vincents are now being built in France by Patrick Godet.
