W650 Flat Tracker

You may have notice that no motorcycles have been posted for a while. The reason being I am currently touring New Zealand on a holiday. Tomorrow I will attempt to post some of the bikes I have spotted in the Land of the Long White Cloud. Until then here’s a sweet W650 from the Japanese shop M&M. Art of Rebellion

Steve Stone is a freelance photographer and owner of Blacklist Photography. He shoots a range of subjects from fashion, snowboarding and lots of motorcycles (which is why we are talking about him). He was recently one of ten artist hand picked to show their work at The Harley-Davidson Art of Rebellion show in L.A and NYC. Steve says he enjoys “making rad images, and then spending his money on more motorcycles”. We really dig Steve’s striking images and you can find Steve and his latest images on the Blacklist Blog.

Mike Doohan sells safety

Just days after the launch of the Victorian motorcycle campaign the Motor Accident Commission of South Australia has embarked on a new approach to encourage motorcyclists to ride safely. The new campaign, created by Clemenger BBDO Adelaide, utilises Moto GP racing footage and demonstrates the real dangers riders face on the road due to roadside obstacles. As opposed to the previous campaign we featured the other day that has been upsetting many riders from around the world, we believe this one is money well spent. Not only does the footage make you stop and think, but using Mick Doohan is a stroke of genius. He’s an Australian legend and also a major role model to most of the target audience. Yamaha R5C

Stumbled across this great site dedicated to the Yamaha R5. Lawrence O’Toole started the website after he purchased this R5C and couldn’t find much information on them. He originally thought it would be a good way to document his R5 resurrection project but it has become a handy source of information for many R5 owners around the globe. There’s not much information out there about the R5 because they weren’t made for very long, the two-stroke was only manufactured from 1970 – 1972. We are told these bikes are surprisingly fast for their size and age, lifting the front wheel in the first two gears and keeping up with modern bikes twice their size. Custom House Stinky SR

The name might sound a bit funny but Customs House Stinky (CHS) have been building some serious looking motorcycles in Japan since 1983. Their website is littered with beautiful bikes including many Cafe Racers, mainly using the much loved Yamaha SR400. The only thing that stinks about these bikes is the smell of burning rubber as they disappear into the distance. CHS also have an impressive range of handmade tanks and seats that are quite pricey but you are definitely paying for quality. Deus Sportster Nightster

We received some pics from Deus today of this nasty looking 2008 Sportster Nightster. This bike truly deserves the words ‘Deus Special’ painted on its tank. Some of the work done includes changing both F&R rims to alloy (front is 19″ dia and the rear is now 18″ dia), stainless spokes, sticky tires, lowered F&R suspension (Ikon), clip on bars, small electronic speedo, Yamaha SR400 petrol tank (thought that looked familiar), solo seat, chopped rear frame section, shorty F&R fenders, modified Vance & Hince 2 into 1 exhaust with HPC matte black coating, and lastly the “special” Deus paint job. After they had finished, this HD had lost 15kg of junk. We love it when Deus get their junk out. [Thanks to Andy for finding this in between the covers while riding a Virgin].

Australian Motorcycle Commerical

This beautifully shot commerical by director Lance Kelleher at Curious Films is causing a lot of debate on motorcycle forums Down Under. The main problem is riders think that this commercial makes us look like a bunch of idiots. Lots of us ride dangerously at times but should we all be made to look like reckless morons? We would love to know what you think. Do you think this ad would work in Europe or America?
