Thrilla in Manila

One of our readers from Manila sent me some pics of his local cafe racer scene. It's always good to see how they roll in different countries. Thats his GB500 with the original tank re-chromed and a custom seat from the boys at Benjes. The real surprise is the bike the dude is sitting on is an old police CB77 mainly made from salvage yards around Manila. [Thanks Dante and Noli for the pics.]

Honda GB500

In the late '80's, Honda experimented with a number of very unusual motorcycles. The GB500 was one of them. It took its style from the old Cafe Racers. Which is why i like it so much. One of the best things to come out of the 80's in my humble opinion (also hyper colored tshirts).

The GB500 was a moderate success in Japan, but in the US sales were hindered by the American love for large engines and dislike of the fairly high price tag. Which is why it's relatively rare bike and has a bit of a cult status.

Heres a couple of pics of this 80's classic. The first pic is from an old honda advertisement... Love the birds forming the honda logo.
