2010 CB1100

Wasn’t long ago we were admiring the CB1100 concept and hoping that Honda wasn’t just prick teasing, but would actually start producing a modern retro styled CB. Well, they have finally confirmed production in 2010. No exact dates or pricing confirmed but we hope they price this bike competitively. If it is a success we would love to see Honda starts making many other retro styled bikes including a CB750. The red CB1100 pictured has been slightly customized with a cafe racer styled seat, fairing and black powder coated pipes. Just gives you a taste of what can be achieved. Venice Bobber

We love how Chris Tragert from Venice Choppers describes his custom bobber; “This bare-knuckle venice bobber is a product of its environment. A light, compact weapon needed to slice through the traffic-choked urban sprawl surrounding the sea-side oasis where it was conceived. Lightweight, quickness, agile handling, and good brakes were top priority. The resulting menacing appearance would give murderous cagers something to text about”. This mad candy red bobber has the unmistakeable 78 CB750F motor. Stripped down and rebuilt with stainless hardware. Love those pipes and we bet they make a great bark. The Pimp CB750

Ian Halcott from Twinline Motorcycles in Seattle has always had a passion for Japanese motorcycles. This awesome CB750 was one of Ian’s first custom projects. He spent almost a year perfecting this bike. Here’s a taste of some of the work on this beautiful cafe racer. A genuine Yoshimura pipe, a glass airtech bimota style tank, the seat was fabbed out of 20 gage steel, they built a fresh motor, powder coated the frame gold, reservoir shocks and lots more. Distressed CB750

Kott Motorcycles is a small custom shop near Los Angeles California, specializing in the restoration and customization of 1970’s era Honda 750’s, 550’s, and 350’s. Like us, the owner Dustin Kott has a passion for cafe racers. We love the raw look of his bikes especially this 750 named ‘Distressed’. CB550 Cafe Racer

One of our favourite forums is the SOHC4 forum. They always have the most amazing Cafe Racers being posted by their members. Like this spectacular yellow 1976 Honda CB550 by Chris from New Jersey. He purchased the original bike for only $600 and has turned it into one of the sweetest cafe racers we have seen this year. We are definitely bias to the Benjies style of cafe racer. Honda CBX Cafe Racer

The Honda CBX1000 was the first motorcycle Honda produced with a six cylinder engine. This one is a Moto Martin CBX. Can’t find much information about the bike but I know Moto Martin are legends in the performance motor bike industry. The French company started by George Martin in the 70’s. They constructed special frames for powerful Japanese engines, 2 stroke and four stroke. There were generally several different kits. You could choose the system of exhaust or only the type of frame plus lots of other options. Anyway we rate this Moto Martin and love the look of those sexy CBX pipes.

Honda CX500 Cafe Racer

Ah, the humble Honda CX500. Born in the late 1970s, with production ending by the mid 1980s. It was Honda’s plan that the CX series would take on the smaller Moto Guzzi and BMW motocycles. They spent a lot of cash to achieve the best design they could. 30 years later it is still a popular cafe racer project bike. We found this beautiful CX500 on the Chopper Charles Forum (great site for those who love their CX500 & GL500’s). Built by a guy in Virginia, USA who goes by the name Pampadori. He loves Honda’s and you can view his collection on this flickr page. Well worth a look.

Goldwing Cafe Racer

Now we’ve seen it all. This is a 1976 Honda GL1000 Goldwing. Yes you heard me right, a Goldwing Cafe Racer. The GL1000 was one of the original Goldwings before they incorporated the fairing into the main body. Would never have thought we’d see it turned into a cafe racer. Everything was fabricated by a GW enthusist from Sweden. The lamp hood is from a HD night rod, and the muffler is a Yoshimura. 1969 Hishiki Sumiya CR750

This Honda CR750 Replica has been in the making for 6 years. Painstakingly built by a guy called Simon from Cheshire in the U.K. It started life as a beat up old CB750. Some of you might be wondering about the 80’s ski suit looking colour scheme. It’s actually the 1969 Suzuka 8-hour winning colour scheme ridden by Honda development riders Hishiki and Sumiya (who died in 1975 racing). Those crazy japanese loved their bright colours. We really like how he had the balls to choose this colour scheme instead of the more common red and silver. Simon we take our helmets off to you mate. CB350F Cafe Racer

Hail the Honda! The CB350F is one of the smallest and most sophisticated mass produced four-cylinders ever built. It was only built for two years from 1972-74. This 1974 Honda CB350F Cafe Racer was recently sold on ebay. The seller threw in the url cb350F.com to sweeten the deal. Judging by the new owners comments on his site like “sexist bike on the planet” he is obviously head over heals in love with his new purchase. Why wouldn’t he be? It’s a beautiful example of what a classic cafe racer should look like. Clip-ons, uncomfortable cafe seat and lots of chrome. For more pics check out this flicr gallery.
