Steve McQueen Replica Helmet

Everyone seems to be riding on the Steve McQueen gravy train these days. Why wouldn't they, his name sells better than sex does. Now Bell have released a replica of the helmet worn by the US Team in the 1964 ISDT (International Six-Day Trial) and the most famous member of this team was 'The King of Cool'. These classic Jet helmets are individually hand painted to order which explains the price tag of over $A600 (which is still a lot cheaper than a Ruby Atelier). Now I am a huge Steve McQueen fan. I am also a sucker for anything retro and vintage. I love the look of this bike and I am sure there is a lot of people out there who have more money than sense. But i have to agree with Hell For Leather (love your site guys) that this Steve McQueen Metisse Replica Desert Racer is priced steeper than the Great Escape jump (£13,000).  So hit this link to read their very honest review...

King of Cool - The Scrambler

For guys who really want to be like Steve, the Triumph Scrambler is the bike for you. You can even order a "278" number board, McQueen's entry when he raced in the 1964 International Six-Day Trials in East Germany. I have to be honest and say that I personally believe Steve McQueen is probably one of the coolest men to have walked this planet. And yes I love this modern take on the classic.

The Scrambler is based largely on the Bonneville T100 streeter. Although the suspension has been raised 2 inches over the Bonneville, for improved ground clearance. So you can take it off road onto dirt tracks but I am told its not the most comfortable ride.

I love that Triumph are still making these nostalgic bikes. I am not sure I would choose this over the Thruxton though. I think the Thruxton would perform much better, but as for cool factor this has McQueen's personal stamp of approval. What more could you ask for?
