Posted on March 22, 2018 by Andrew in Café Racer, Racer. No Comments

Buying a brand new motorcycle is a big decision. But to then hand it over to be chopped up for modification means you’ve gotta ask yourself one question: “Do you feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk? With a resounding ‘yes,’ Motoplex of Argentina asked Lucky Customs for a bike. Here’s what they got…

SNAKES AND LATTICE. The ‘Cobra’ Honda XR250 from Argentina’s Lucky Customs

Posted on November 13, 2017 by Andrew in Other, Tracker. 27 comments

‘Chuckable’. It’s what we call bikes in England and Down Under that are super easy to throw around on the road. You might call them lithe, lightweight or manoeuvrable. It’s what you get when you start with something that’s already pretty minimal and push it even further…

Argentina’s Lucky Customs have done more for 1980’s AMF Harley Davidson than anyone else in recent years. A few months back we ran a show-stopping turbo salt racer from the Cordoba-based business and now they’ve followed up with this spectacular blacked-out 1984 Evo chopper dubbed ‘Rock’n’Rolla’.

If it’s true that one’s destination is never a place, but always a new way of seeing things, then surely a trip to the Himalaya’s can lead to a vision where anything is possible. The Yamaha XS650 has been a mainstay of the custom motorcycle revival and even before they were being cafe’d they were being cut up and bobbed…

TRANSATLANTIC FRIGHT. Ortolani Customs’ Brutal Avinton Cafe Racer

Posted on June 29, 2018 by Andrew in Café Racer. No Comments

The idea of a European/American hybrid is not a new one in the automotive world, with vehicles like the Shelby Cobra using parts from each side of the Atlantic. A lightweight, well-balanced chassis with some Yank V-Power muscle to get things moving always seemed like the perfect combination. Enter the Avinton…

WHACKING DAY. Lucky Custom’s ‘Cobra 2’ Honda XR250 Tracker

Posted on February 1, 2018 by Andrew in Tracker. 21 comments

Now we all agree that peaky inline fours and huge rumbling v-twins are fantastic. But some of our favourite bikes to come out of the custom scene are small, fun little runabouts that can belt through traffic and jump gutters and terrify pedestrians…

RISE OF THE APES. Lucky Custom‘s ‘De Lujo’ Honda Dax Bobber

Posted on December 11, 2017 by Andrew in Bobber, Classic. 21 comments

If there’s one thing that Argentina’s Lucky Customs should be known for, it’s their brain frying, jaw dropping, eye watering diversity. From space-inspired racers to off-road beasts to 1950s salt racers, these guys seem to be going out of their way not to build the same bike twice…

BIG BANG THEORY. Lucky Cat’s ‘Bombinette’ BMW Sprint Racer

Posted on October 19, 2017 by Andrew in Classic, Racer. 18 comments

The European ‘Sultans of Sprint’ race series is open to anyone with an air-cooled European twin and a penchant for insanity. Rather than just awarding points for running the quickest time down the short-range drag strip, extra marks are given for bike presentation, hair-raising moments on the track and how much the support crew drinks the night before the race meet. Having another crack at the title is France’s Lucky Cat Garage with their incredible Boxer-powered custom dubbed ‘The Bombinette’.

EXPRESSO. A Turbo Honda CX500 Cafe Racer From Kingston Customs

Posted on July 25, 2017 by Andrew in Café Racer. 19 comments

Consider the humble Honda CX. If ever the Honda Motor Corporation made a bike that perfectly summed up the company and its ethos, this would be it. Impeccably engineered, virtually indestructible and just a little bit dull. In Germany, they call it a ‘Schlammpumpe’ or ‘Slurry Pump’. In English, ‘The Plastic Maggot’. They say that after a nuclear war, the only creatures to survive will be the cockroaches. Well, we’re here to tell you that they’ll all be riding CXs. And one very, very lucky German Cockroach will be rocking this turbo’d bad boy from Essen’s Kingston Customs.
