French designed helmet?

Everyone has seen the beautiful Ruby Atelier helmets. Recently Ruby got together with high fashion designer Martin Margiela to create an exclusively limited signature helmet. The white surface is covered with signatures of every member of Margiela’s design team. This so called designer has ripped off my design. I first created this design when I was at school and I broke my arm by falling off my bmx. All my mates signed my white cast and some even drew dirty pictures (and they could draw better than Margiela’s staff). See you in court Mr Margiela!

Flakes Custom Cycles

It’s been a while since we’ve posted a bike from this Japanese shop called Flake motorcycles. They are the masters of fine paint work. Just check out some of their amazing tanks. This TW200 has been done in true Japanese style. Like so many sweet TW200 found on the streets of Tokyo. That retro paint work is beautiful.

Icon Cretin

Icon are renowned for their over the top helmets, jackets and bikes. Their latest creation is no different. This little green 76′ Yamaha TT500 has been done in true Icon style. Although, unlike the rest of their gear this has a really cool retro look. It makes me feel all prepubescent and stoned just looking at it. The incredible thing about this bike is the diverse range of parts. It has the front end from a 1990 Suzuki Katana 600, Handlebars from a 2002 Honda Reflex (the one thing I would change) and even a rear brake from a Hayabusa. Cafe Racer Documentary

Found out about the release of this film on the best cafe racer blog ‘The Return of the Cafe Racer’. Two years in the making, “Cafe Society” is the first, full-length documentary film to chronicle the origins, legacy and rebirth of this, one of the world’s most unique motorcycles and motorcycle subcultures. Filmed on location throughout the UK, Europe and U.S. by crews from Chet Burks Productions and Mike Seate of Cafe Racer magazine, “Cafe Society” brings viewers a rare, intimate view of the Ton-Up culture. Heiwa FTR223

It’s no surprise that we love Japanese customs and Heiwa is one of the best. This Honda FTR223 is quite popular in Japan but not that common in Australia (although there is one for sale on bikepoint). The FTR is Honda’s version of Yamaha’s TW200 which has become a very popular project bike (we will try and post some of the TW200 pics you guys have sent in). Heiwa have pimped this bike in true Jap style. Love the slim tank which looks very simliar to the ones found on Peytons Place.

CB550 Cafe Racer

One of our favourite forums is the SOHC4 forum. They always have the most amazing Cafe Racers being posted by their members. Like this spectacular yellow 1976 Honda CB550 by Chris from New Jersey. He purchased the original bike for only $600 and has turned it into one of the sweetest cafe racers we have seen this year. We are definitely bias to the Benjies style of cafe racer. Jesse Rookes XR1200

Jesse Rookes is a very talented bike builder. He came onto the scene in 2002 with his first bike Dinah which quickly made a name for himself in the custom scene. We really dig his latest project for Dunlop. This XR1200 has the best parts money can buy like Marzocchi suspension and Brembo brakes. Overall it’s not as flashy as his previous builds but when Dunlop was footing the bill it was smart to make the tires the hero.

No Regrets

This awesome piece of perfection is a 2006 150 horsepower Harley-Davidson modified by Roland Sands Designs (RSD). Roland Sands has built some amazing bikes over the years but this one is still one of our favourites. With it’s Ohlins suspension and racebike stance it has the perfect balance of looks and performance. It’s hard to believe that this bike was built in 10 days for Discovery Channel’s Biker Build Off. It ended up winning by beating master builder Jesse Rookes. Roland is renound for building bikes that perform as well as they look, and this is no exception. Roland also has a sweet website worth checking out for all the bikes he has built and others he is selling.

Norton J.A.P THOR

Saw this amazing Norton-JAP (J.A. Prestwich) in a British classic motorcycle mag a few months ago. After trying to find some more info on it I discovered a detailed article on The Vintagent (If you haven’t checked this site out it’s a must). This bike has had an impressive history on and off the track over the years. Here’s some technical info straight from the story “Although it is based on the ‘Stronger’ 1100cc JAP mk2 Crankcases, it is fitted with 2 Speedway heads and barrels giving a nominal 998cc. The GP carbs are in fact 1 1/4″ and the SU floats came from an XK Jaguar. It runs on straight Methanol and gives circa 100 BHP. The JAP is mounted in a 1952 350cc Manx Norton rolling chassis (the 350 version is lighter than the 500 being made in lighter gauge tubing).” For the full story on this beautiful machine check out the wonderful The Vintagent.

Suzuki GS1000

This historic Yoshimura GS1000 was Wes Cooley’s superbike. He was the winner of 2 AMA Superbike Championships. It is now owned by Brian O’Shea of Enfield, Connecticut, whose collection has a number of the landmark bikes in Superbike racing history. This particular bike has a really interesting history. Especially the 1980 superbike title, it reads like a movie. You can read the whole story at The Motorcycle Museum. Just look at this machine sitting on the track. It wants to be ridden, and ridden fast like Wes rode it.
