This built was meant to be the prize for the lucky draw in the 2017 Art of Speed Malaysia event. It started with an idea of having two engines in one bike. I took some time to do some research on this idea and found that it is common in the 60s and 70s drag scene to combine two engines in this setup since back then the performance parts were scarce and this is the better way to increase power. So it went as a tribute to the 60s and 70s dragster but using a Yamaha RXZ engine since this bike is the most iconic two strokes bike in Malaysia. I used 2 pieces of CAD designed, CNC waterjet cut 12.75mm plate as the main structure. The rest of the frame was custom built. The bodywork was inspired from the digger style chopper. I find it interesting to use this element because the digger was inspired by the drag bike and i took it back to inspire a drag bike again. I hope you will understand what i am trying to say. Parts wise, the front fork was a detabbed, shortened and polished stock RXZ fork. I used the Yamaha 125Z rear disc brake setup on the rear since i removed the front brake for that clean look. To further make it look cleaner, i make a custom internal throttle setup in the clip on handlebar. In the end, the result really pleases me, the Art of Speed organizer and the lucky winner of this bike. It’s been years since i last heard from the winner of this bike. I hope he is still alive.
