2017 / 1988 Honda NX 650 The Dirtbag

Motor, gear box, transmission, and 17 inch aluminum rear wheel original (except new stainless steel spokes). Frame detabbed, and sub-frame shortened by a few inches. 19 inch aluminum front wheel laced with stainless steel spokes to the original hub – fitted to the original forks with custom made spacers, and new bearrings. Suspension upgraded with progressive springs and increased pre-load in the forks as well as a rebuilt wilbers monoshock in the rear. Old tank from a Honda CB 350 adapted to the very wide oil-in-frame top tube: Not only massively widened tunnel, but also former two fuel tap setup reduced to only one. Moreover, the small oil-overflow pipe on the frametube had to be relocated. Frame, dip tubes, motor side covers, wheels, and many small parts sanded, and powder-coated in satin/matt black. Aftermarket flat-track-styled seat pan adapted to the sub-frame, and furnished with custom made upholstery covered in automobile grade black leather. Side covers and head light masking made from aftermarket aluminum number plates. New Mikuni carb with modified air box and filter, and new single-walled two-in-one exhaust headers with aftermarket street-legal silencer (for German TÜV): increasing performance to around 50 hp! Partly new electronics and wiring, mostly relocated to a modified part of the original rear fender under the seat. High-end electronic parts, e.g., Motogadget speedo, and projector-style head lights, front indicators, and a set of combined rear lights/brake lights/rear indicators from Highsider. New handlebar from Tommaselli with Biltwell grips. Custom made number plate holder with integrated mounts for the rear lights-indicator-combination. High mounted aftermarket front fender. In the result it is a very light and agile street-rippin’, dirt road-munchin’ wheelie-machine…
