Ed Motorcycles Concept Z.
A lightweight electric street tracker designed for extreme acceleration up to a top speed of 140km/h. Vision for the bike is to be one of the fastest accelerating 0-100km/h street bikes in the world. Styling was heavily inspired by the framer style flat track race bikes. The bike takes on a Spartan appeal with an emphasis on its components providing both function and aesthetics (no fairings).
The Concept Z is a ground up design and build.
Frame:
Fully Tig welded 4130 chromoly frame including CNC swing arm pivot/motor mounts and frame pickup points. Drive train incorporates a co-axial design (motor drive sprocket and suspension pivot share a common axis) eliminating changes in chain length during suspension travel.
Swing arm:
Triangulated design. Tig welded 4130 Chromoly construction with CNC pivot points.
Body Box:
Laser cut and Tig welded alloy construction. Body box is a stressed member forming an active structural element of the frame.
Drive Train:
52kw, 157nm air-cooled, radial flux, interior permanent magnet brushless motor

Custom design and built including high current PCB and copper terminals, full poly carbonate enclosure, aluminum housing and CNC machined side cooling plates.
Battery position and mounting style will accommodate changes in battery size with no modification to body box or frame. With future advancements in battery technology a upgraded pack can be implemented with minimal changes.

Two piece storage tank (fuel tank) with hand shaped composite top and tig welded alloy bottom.
Alloy underside air duct for enhanced motor cooling.
Shaped and wrapped high density foam seat

The Bike is currently undergoing performance testing and tuning.
