Led Sled Hardtail

Something a little bit different. We don’t post a lot of Harley’s on Pipeburn. But we thought this HD hardtail was too good to sit idle on the desktop. It’s named the Mercury Pusher and was made by a shop in Ohio, USA called Led Sleds. They specialize in custom HD sportsters and have some amazing projects on their site. This was our pick of the bunch though. Look out for this bike on the cover of Cyclesource Magazine.

R100 BMW Rocker

Last September Gateway BMW bought a sorry looking 1988 R100RT and Ryan Manley (pictured) was given the job to transform the R100 into a beautiful cafe racer. The silver tank and seat with black frame, wheels and final drive is a great look. We also dig the new exhaust pipes on it. They are EMGO universal Shorty pipes, which apparently can be heard over a Harley. The seat is not finished in this pic but you can see it on the Gateway BMW site, plus all the details on the build. The bike has been sold to some lucky bastard and I’m sure he hasn’t stopped grinning.

Egli Vincent

When i saw this Egli Vincent i fell to my knees and asked for forgiveness. Unfortunately only 100 Egli-Vincents were made between 1967 and 1972. Fritz Egli was a specialist frame manufacturer based in Switzerland. Egli-Vincents are now being built in France by Patrick Godet. With permission from Fritz Egli he is the sole manufacturer of new machines under the Egli name. Hodaka Cafe Racer

What a great little Cafe Racer. Hodaka was an American-Japanese company that unfortunately didn’t produce motorcycles for very long. Pretty much between 1960 and mid 1970’s. This is a two stroke, single cylinder 1972 Hodaka Ace 100. We love the rawness of this featherweight cafe racer. Stripped back to the basics like they should be. We love finding new cafe racer sites. We came across this french site called 299kmh.  Although we can’t speak a word of french (except for ‘cafe’) the pictures on the site speak the universal language of love. Especially these Norton Commandos. Worth starting a war for.

Triumph Hard Ass

We came across this beautiful looking 1967 T120R Triumph Hard Tail on the very cool Cycle Zombies Blog. The blog has a great mix of motorbikes, surf and skate material (heres where I do a plug for the hopkin skate shop). Anyway back to the Triumph. It is actually for sale for $7,500 which sounds very reasonable considering the work thats gone into it. For more pics and details hit this zombie link.

BSA Thunderbolt 650

The BSA ThunderboIt Cafe Racer was big in the sixties and just by looking at it you can see why. There was another reason it was big. Appearing in the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball (1:30). Yes, product placement was alive and well even in Bond films from the sixties. Blink and you would probably miss the bike, especially with the machine guns and gold fairing. This beautifully restored Thunderbolt recently sold for $5500us (sadly by an old guy retiring from motorcycling). Which seems like a steal considering the immaculate condition it was in. With only 16,500 miles on the clock we wish these kind of buys popped up in Australia. [Although, there is an amazing looking 1973 BSA Rocket for sale that looks ready to race].

Moto Guzzi Le Mans

Japanese Ritmo-sereno are famous for their BMW cafe racers. However their website is full of other european bikes like this beautiful Moto Guzzi Le Mans. The Le Mans was Moto Guzzi’s top sports bike in the 80’s. The big bore lOOOcc version was a welcome addition in 1985 but is essentially similar to the 850 Le Mans they had been producing. We wanted to give you the before and after shots of this bike to show the work thats gone into the build. Ritmo have taken this dated Guzzi and turned it into a cafe masterpiece. With its beautiful cafe race seat, purple racer fairing and 2-in-1 stainless steel exhaust. We simply love it.

1969 Hishiki Sumiya CR750

This Honda CR750 Replica has been in the making for 6 years. Painstakingly built by a guy called Simon from Cheshire in the U.K. It started life as a beat up old CB750. Some of you might be wondering about the 80’s ski suit looking colour scheme. It’s actually the 1969 Suzuka 8-hour winning colour scheme ridden by Honda development riders Hishiki and Sumiya (who died in 1975 racing). Those crazy japanese loved their bright colours. We really like how he had the balls to choose this colour scheme instead of the more common red and silver. Simon we take our helmets off to you mate. Jay Leno’s Superhawk

Jay Leno has an amazing collection of cars and motorbikes. Just some of his motorcycles include a couple of Vincents, a Ducati Desmosedici and a rare 1930 Brough Superior. His garage where he keeps all his machines is about 17,000 square feet, sizeable, to say the least, for a private garage. Anyway heres a little vid from Jay Lenos Garage talking about his beautiful 1962 Honda 305 Superhawk.
