THE WIZARD OF OZZ. A Ducati ST4S Cafe Fighter By Ozz Customs

Posted on November 3, 2017 by Andrew in Café Racer, Streetfighter. 30 comments

Despite being one of the most enlightened countries in the world, the Netherlands doesn’t have a thriving motorcycle scene. I’ve no idea why this is – they could be all too busy getting ripped, getting drunk or falling off pushbikes to really catch the bug. But for whatever reason, Roosendaal-based Ozz Customs breaks the silence yet again with their latest build, a Ducati ST4S touring bike cut down into a mean cafe fighter.

HIGHWAY TO HELL. Macco Motors New ‘Dusky Devil’ XSR700 Street Tracker

Posted on October 6, 2017 by Andrew in Streetfighter, Tracker. 10 comments

There’s always been an adage in the car and motorcycle world, ‘fast, reliable and cheap; you can only pick two’. Yet along came Yamaha with their MT/XSR range of motorcycles and proved that was absolutely not true. You can thrash these things all day long; the MT10 with superbike levels of performance and they just don’t break despite being bargains off the showroom floor. But the looks are not everybody’s cup of tea, so when Señor Alberto of Madrid bought a 2017 XSR700 brand new he went straight from the dealer to Macco Motors for a solution. There the prolific kings of Spanish customs, Jose and Tito, transformed the Yamaha into a tasty street slaying ride they call Dusky Devil.

KING HIT. MotoVida’s Kickass Ducati 1098S Streetfighter

Anyone who knows about cage fighting will tell you that the match itself is the easy part. Believe it or not, the pre-match process of ‘making weight’ – or losing mass to make your fighting weight by intense dehydration is the risky part. Go too hard and you could be facing hospital time or much, much worse. But for Canada’s Motovida, the consequences of dramatic weight loss had a decidedly more pleasant outcome – more go. And here’s their title-winning champ, a 1098 Ducati they call the ‘Cage Fighter’.

BEAST MODE. A Yamaha XV920 Neo-Cafe from Ruthless Customz

Posted on July 10, 2017 by Andrew in Café Racer, Streetfighter. 8 comments

Having owned Viragos ourselves, we know all too well that customising them without treading on anyone’s toes can be a tricky endeavour. With some of the industry’s best builders all making their mark on Yamaha‘s innovative stressed-member v-twin, it’s damn hard to do anything that people haven’t seen a million times before. But with this thought in mind, Sergei from Dutch grinders Ruthless Customz took up tools and created this rather cool and decidedly unique XV interpretation. He calls it ‘The Beast’.

‘Metal Speed Solid’ Triumph Speed Triple Cafe Fighter – GB Motors 94

Posted on March 30, 2017 by Andrew in Café Racer, Racer, Streetfighter. 22 comments

As much as I like the bikes featured on Pipeburn, sometimes I’m left wondering – what are they actually like to ride? They’re always cool as hell but sometimes I try not to think about what they’d be like to throw a leg over. Half an inch of suspension travel on the rear sure makes for a mean looking stance – but how would it fare over a suburban speed hump? That old air-cooled single pot 250 looks lean, but how far would you get on the interstate before your handlebars are being dragged out of the grill of a Scania? Well today we have something that’s meant to be ridden, and ridden hard – a custom Cafe Fighter built around Triumph’s exceptional Speed Triple R, made by Paris’s GB Motors 94.

‘Bull Gold’ Yamaha MT-01 Cafe Fighter – Kekedesign Artkustom

Posted on March 19, 2017 by Andrew in Café Racer, Streetfighter. 11 comments

Yamaha‘s poor MT-01. Released in 2005, it looked like it had so much customising potential. A killer engine with more torque than the Titanic on Nitrous. A decent, sporty frame and suspension set-up. Tuning kits straight from the factory. By rights, we should all be complaining about yet another MT-01 custom bike instead of directing it at her Virago grandparents. Yet here we are, all red-faced at having never featured a single MT on these pages. Until now. Direct from (of all places) Corsica, here’s Kekedesign Artkustom with their brutal ‘Bull Gold’ cafe fighter.
