Deus Bali Dog

Indonesians are truly amazing at using whatever resources they have to create ‘silk purses out of a sow’s ear’. You see, due to the heavy import tax in Indonesia bikes like TW200’s, W650’s and SR400’s are not available, so they have to think outside the square when building classic looking motorcycles. This time the donor bike is the uninspiring 2009 Yamaha 225 Scorpio. When I first laid eyes on this little hill climber I immediately thought it was a TW200 but was pleasantly surprised when they told me it was a Yamaha Scorpio. “The ‘Bali Dog’ is a distant cousin of Deus Australia’s ‘Drover’s Dog‘ – all dick and ribs just like the barking mutt trotting around the temples at night” Deus tells us. Felix the head of the Deus Bali workshop designed and built this bike with the help of his team. Everything is either custom made here or imported from Japan. For a small bike the spec list is large; including a Harley Davidson Headlight, Daytona 36cm rear shock, customized W650 Chrome back Fender, Nitro Head Studded seat and Chrome Scrambler bars just to mention a few. The end result is the perfect custom to transport you down to the local surf reefs while turning a few ‘wax heads’ on the way.

Deus Bukit Climber

Posted on February 12, 2010 by Scott in Scrambler. 1 Comment

It’s probably no secret that Deus are venturing into the surfboard market, especially with one of the owners being ex Mambo and Australia having such a huge and profitable surf culture. Their real point of difference though will always be trying to stay left of field, so we won’t be surprised when they manufacture surfboards using old school shapes and designs. They have nearly finished transforming a Balinese rice paddy into their factory and surf headquarters – where they will be shaping and making the Deus surfboards. And what surf factory would be complete without a custom TW200 complete with surfboard racks to take your workers down to the local surf breaks at Bukit? This TW200 is appropriately named the Bukit Climber and looks like it’s main purpose is to travel from the popular beach to the Deus factory at the top of the hill. For more pics of this understated rice burner (and rice fields) check out this Bali gallery.

SR400 Drovers Dog

Posted on September 7, 2009 by Scott in Brat. 2 comments

We love receiving the Deus Oily Rag in our inbox and discovering what the guys at Deus have been creating. The first thing that stopped us in our tracks is this SR400 Drovers Dog. Done in true Deus style, with a SR skinny tank and those beautiful vintage Firestones. The only thing that bugs me is the Deus graphics on the tank, l have to be honest I much prefer the original logo (but hey, a bit of paint stripper would fix that). Hit the jump for the full Drovers Dog gallery.

Deus W650 Bobber

Posted on June 22, 2009 by Scott in Bobber, Café Racer. 2 comments

I just love this Deus W650 Swing Bobber. It puts the schwing back in swing bobber. If i took it to a swinger party I could not throw the keys in the hat, even if another hottie was ready for a kick start. No, not even some slutty, sexy, eurotrash Triumph kneel and bobber that was begging for a ride.

Deus SR542

Posted on June 2, 2009 by Scott in Tracker. No Comments

Never has a 1978 Yamaha Sr500 looked so good. Deus have totally rebuilt this classic and turn it into a SR542 Street Tracker. The back end looks very similar to their TW225. Apparently it has left Australian shores and headed for Hollywood. Rumoured to be Orlando Blooms. [via HFL]

This is how Deus does a Thruxton. I am not sure about colour choices. Love everything else including the white pipe. Aprilia RSV front end, twin flatside carbs and Ohlin rear shocks.

Trip to Deus

Posted on April 11, 2009 by Scott in Classic, Racer. No Comments

I love going to Deus. I don’t enjoy going there with my ankle biters but hey i had no choice today.

They have so many great bikes in every corner. Discovered this little beauty in one of the corners today (next to the fire extinguisher and water cooler). A Yamaha R5 350cc from the seventies. Makes me want to put on my leathers and take on Mr Stoner.
I love the description (sales pitch) on the the ‘price tag’. If you can’t read it heres what it says…
“350cc 2 stroke bike with disc brake upgrade. Will need very little to get up and running again. Go racing, its fun, it’ll make you a better rider, meet new friends, meet beautiful women, get rich, get bigger muscles, rub shoulders with super stars,…” I’ll take two (not that i need bigger muscles)!

Deus W650 Street Tracker

Posted on March 4, 2009 by Scott in Tracker. 1 Comment

I have fallen for street trackers in a big way, then spotted this great w650 on the Deus website and can’t get enough of it. I even like the NASCAR inspired colours. I normally like simple colour schemes like black on black but the colours work really well for this beautiful machine…

DEUS SR400 TANK

I am thinking the Deus SR400 TT tank might be the go for my Yamaha. I love the look of it on their Sr400TT. It’s made by The House of Wellington. Sold at Deus.
